# Course Short Name

- The course short name is unique to every course.
- It can be helpful to know the course short name when searching for a specific course.
- Typically the course short name starts with the school year the course was offered, followed by the course number and the section number.
- The course name can also be located in the breadcrumbs listing on the course site underneath the name.

# Course Name

All courses are named following a standard convention.

- **Official Course Number:** This begins with a prefix indicating the course subject followed by a four-digit number. Each course has a unique number.
- **Section Number**
- **Official Course Name**
- **School Year**
- **Semester** (the summer semester is semester 3)

For example, *EDT0001: 01 Introduction to Online Learning (201718 2)* indicates that this is the first section of edtech course 0001, being taught in the second semester of the 2017-2018 school year.
