Adding a TA

A Teachers' Assistant (TA) can be added to courses to assist with various instructional duties.

Instructions

  1. AfterBest loggingexperienced intoin Moodle,Full Screen (click onthe icon in the top right corner before you begin) **
  2. 10 STEPS

    1. The first step is to open the course your TA needs access to. 

  3. From the menu on the left,and click Participants.
  4. On

  5. In theClick Select users

    4. Type thesearch username/email address of box,your startTA

    5. Click the student's name

    Note: Many students have similar names. Please be careful when choosing the MLCstudent. The email address of your TA.

  6. Whenis the TAbest appearsunique identifier.

    6. Click to the side to close the search box

    7. Click in the list, click on their name and their profile information will appear above the dropdown menu. If this is not the person you want to add, click the and search again.

  7.  After the correct person has been selected, click the bottom dropdown menu next to Assign role drop-down andmenu

    8. Select Teaching Assistant (non-editing)- Grading  or Teaching Assistant (editing)- Editing

    Grading

      allows
    • Theyour TeachingTA Assistantto (non-editing)enter role can grade assignments,grades, but cannotnot editadjust anythingcourse withincontent. Editing gives your TA the course.
    • The Teacher Assistant (editing) role can grade assignments and can also editsame course materials,content includingediting uploadingoptions filesthat andyou addinghave new activities. 
  8. After choosingas the role,instructor.

    9. Click Enroll selectedEnrol users and cohorts.

10. That's it. You're done.

Important Notes

  • You can view and edit your TA's role from the the Participants list. Click the pencil to edit or remove their role.
  • Follow the steps above for each additional course your TA needs access to.  
  • If working with separate groups within your course, make sure your TA is also a member of those groups.
